Advanced Micro Device is reputed as Intel's top rival in the semiconductor field. It was founded by several ex-employees of Fairchild Semiconductor in 1969, just one year after Intel was founded by two other former employees of Fairchild. AMD began reverse-engineering Intel parts and entered a cross-licensing agreement with them in 1976, as well as a 10-year technology exchange agreement in 1982. In 1977, it joined with Siemens in establishing Advanced Micro Computers which provided AMD a way of entering the microcomputer field. By 2013, AMD parts were powering HP notebooks, Xbox Ones, Sony PlayStations, and Nintendo Wii's, Even a Guinness World Record was set by AMD as having the highest frequency computer microprocessor
