Infineon Technologies AG was born from Siemens Semiconductors in 1999 and is a leading designer and manufacturer of a wide range of semiconductors. Infineon operates a number of subsidiaries and facilities in Europe, the US, and Asia and is comprised of four business areas: automotive, industrial power control, power management & multimarket, as well as chip card and security. Infineon was apprehended, along with Samsung; Hynix; and Micron Technology, in a worldwide investigation regarding a price-fixing conspiracy and was required to pay a $160 million fine. Some of Infineon's acquisitions include ADMtek in 2004 and International Rectifier Corporation in 2015 and divestitures include Qimonda and Intel Mobile Communications
