Intel Corporation NASDAQ INTC is known today as one of the world's largest and highest valued semiconductor manufactures. Established in 1968 by Andrew Grove and Fairchild Semiconductor founders Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, Intel created the first commercial microprocessor chip in 1971 and invented the x86 series of microprocessor found in most PC's. Intel's aggressive and sometimes illegal tactics to defend its market position, as well as a struggle with Microsoft for control over the direction of the PC industry, gave Intel a negative aspect in the 1990's; yet today they supply processors for top name brands such as Apple, Samsung, HP, & Dell.
