Intersil Corporation originally started out developing digital watch processors in 1967 as Intersil Inc. then joined the microprocessor market in the 1970's. When it was acquired by Harris Semiconductor in 1988, it was combined with the semiconductor divisions of Radiation Incorporated, RCA, and General Electric. Harris Semiconductor then spun them all off as the largest IPO in American history, Intersil Corporation. Today it is known as a major supplier for the military and aerospace industries with its full range of power IC solutions and analog components that are recognized for reliability and performance
